Fraser is either a liar or very very stupid if he thinks for one second his three year old is excited about him returning to the House Of Commons. Anyone who has been a three year old and has had a dad knows that.
If we are in the middle of the greatest existential threat that we have ever faced, should we not maybe think about putting off our summer vacay for a few weeks and, perhaps, extend the House sitting past June 20th? They are going to put a 20 day push on but, to be fair, they are going to take one for the team and extend the sitting hours if necessary for the last 10 days of the session and rise on June 20th. Such a sacrifice! They will have sat for 20 days out of 185 since December 17th, 2024. Is that elbows up?
Also, on that note, what precisely is Poilievre going to miss if he is not back in the HOC until the fall? 20 days while the newbies are trying to find their offices. That is it. Carney is not even going to bother to grace us with any sort of fiscal update. The information would be available if the civil servants in the Finance department have been doing their jobs. I realize that could be an open question. If this is how Wayne Long thinks a corporation is run, they must do things way differently in Saint John-Kennebecasis than in Brantford.
It sort of depends. If their objective is to mimic the American financial services sector, they’ve been doing a great job since 2015. Two grossly incompetent and irresponsible sectors. This is a made-in-Hell marriage.
Have Coyne and the other libs in the legacy media criticized Carney’s ridiculous Trump-style executive-order performance art? As far as I can see, aside from the patriots at the National Post, the rest of the MSM has been silent.
Any guess as to what they’d say if Poilievre had done the same thing?
The question answers itself. Now Coyne did admit that “we” had been had after announcing his cabinet. Any moron could have predicted how it that would go just like any moron could have done that in 2015. He did neither.
Trudeau’s universalizing the thoughts of Canadians was just one of the many things that would drive me nuts when he was bloviating. “Canadians expect us…” Canadians think…” “we as Canadians…” etc. etc. And this is literally Coyne. From some guy with the handle @goingtogetugly. He lists 4 reasons why Canadians who said they regret voting for Trudeau will vote for Carney and point number one applies to Coyne:
1. They Blame Trudeau For Their Mistake
“Instead of concluding “There is something wrong with my judgement that I need to identify and fix”, they blame Trudeau for not fulfilling their expectations. With Trudeau gone, they think the problem is solved. This means they will make the same mistake again and again.”
That is Coyne and he is admitting it in public that he has made the same mistake. Quite funny actually. But he needs to leave the rest of us out of it and perhaps do a little self reflection. All four reasons here:
You need to take a course in observational therapy. Coyne is a small-c conservative, but admittedly, he seemingly can’t stand Pierre. If the last election’s results are to be believed, he has a lot of company. Maybe Pierre will make it next time.
Coyne is one of the mythical “fiscally conservative / socially leftist” people who represent 6% of the country’s population but approximately 90% of the elite class. These days such people vote Liberal by default since as long as their homes don’t decline in value, they really don’t care whether or not the govt is fiscally responsible.
Some said and continue to say the same thing about me because I was a Liberal member for ten years. I joined when Dion was leader because I could no longer stomach Harper. I don’t mesh well with leaders who are either self-deluded or ideologically intent on destroying their own governments. So, when Trudeau defended SNC, that was the end for me as a Liberal.
And guess who has to prove to me that he’s already learned his lessons from the last election. So far, it’s more status quo than anything else. Not good enough.
Oh and Pedant, will you still consider The National Post patriots if they turn on the CPC at some point, especially if WE somehow lose the next election?
The problem you have is that you’re not a person suited to crisis-management adaptation. You remind me of Pierre who won’t really course-correct in a genuine way. He will simply continue to self-delude all the way to the next election and then surprise, surprise, Einstein’s definition of insanity, which Pierre has quoted in the past, will come to fruition with unpleasant results for him and US. Keeping Byrne on proves that wearing political blinders is his political specialty when essential change does not suit his preconceived political agenda…so we might as well be prepared now to blow the next one, because we more than likely will. End of story.
The incumbent doesn’t take well to merited criticism. She struck a nerve more than once with her honesty and authentic assessment of his campaign, while the rest of them were only prepared to sell themselves like cheap whores. For this guy, that’s a cardinal sin. So, she’s out for as long as Carney is prime minister.

What’s the rush? The Carney has fleeced the rubes. The circus can now wait till we find the white elephant.

Martin,
They prefer all hands-up for their gold-plated pensions.

It’s a very Trudeau-esque manoeuvre, universalizing one’s lack of judgment onto the rest of us.

I remember when Coyne used to be pretty good
He is a contrarian indicator now.

Ronald-Coyne hasn’t been a conservative since 2015.

I expect all media to “turn on” political parties when deserved. But especially those in government.

Warren,
If you want to know who Carney really is and how he ticks, just ask Karina Gould…
Is Karina being distanced to he available as the backup if/when Carney crashes and burns?
Ron,

Warren,
Carney’s Angels: Leah Gazan, Lori Idlout and Jenny Kwan. Just wait until he returns to Canada.
When exactly is Carney going to keep his word and disclose his personal net worth? Never, that’s when…
