Ten reasons to dump Poilievre

Here.

I don’t really buy the bit about him not doing well with women. He’s fit, muscular, and charismatic while Carney is frail, creepy, and keeps his wife locked away most of the time. Maybe it’s the other way around.

You can’t say that PP can be compared to Trump at a time when Carney is the most openly pro-Trump world leader in the G7, basically gave Mango Mussolini a lap dance in the oval office, and is now tailoring legislation to appease the Trump white house. Again, maybe its the other way around.

His problem is that he’s been poorly advised and doesn’t have anyone around him to tell him hard truths. There’s no Pelltier or Goldenberg at the OLO. Plenty of candidates from CPC staff or outsiders but will he take heed? Jenni has to go of course.

And in other news, Carney is dealing with the “crisis” by calling for an “emergency meeting” in ELEVEN DAYS in Muskoka. Does anyone else see the oxymoronic nature of that sentence?

Why not have it today by Zoom? If we are really in the middle of the ” greatest existential threat of our lifetime” wouldn’t the first Minsters make the time? I would.

    • Martin,

Carney is all about photo ops over substance. Hence his twice moving of the goalposts on a new FTA. Trump is an ever-increasing liability for Carney, and he knows it. He must wish he was still at Brookfield.

  3. Warren,

Setting the table as of now, SaintByrneTM is firmly entrenched, and the leader does not take responsibility for the loss, nor does he blame even part of the loss on Byrne. Meanwhile, the review vote is already fixed to come out in the leader’s favour. It will be a repeat of 2004, when Harper got more than 84 percent.

    1. He lost for two reasons: his likability ratings are abysmal, and people are sick of his face given that he’s a career politician.

    2. Byrne needs to be blamed for this 100 percent. She was the main strategist and did not have the competence or innate ability to pivot once Trudeau was out of the game.

    3. This decision came from the leader himself, and as such, he should resign but won’t.

    4. RMS Conservative is still headed straight for the iceberg. The captain is delusional and overly confident in his limited strategic abilities. The leader has all the answers and is never wrong, at least in his opinion.

    5. The leader is shying away from public events in non-CPC strongholds. Tells you all you need to know about his rapidly diminishing popularity: 25 percent behind Carney re: the preferred PM metric. He’s like a boulder, sinking fast and with no hope of significant recovery.

    6. He joins Trudeau in the sick-of-your-face “pantheon.”

    7. It’s a combination of his personality and the party being pushed further right than centre-right. Women are largely progressive or further left.

    8. For now, Trump is for Carney, but voters give the latter a pass, so we get tarred with it even though Trump has no connection to or liking for our leader.

    9. Smith is box-office poison, electorally speaking, even in her own province. Were I an Albertan, I would vote NDP as long as she was still premier.

    10. Harper turned it around in 2006, but the leader is no Harper. Harper was disliked; this leader is largely despised. No turnaround is possible this time.

Finally, the leader sees absolutely no merit in progressive conservatism, which he refers to as liberal-lite. So, the LLs will keep WINNING while he almost inevitably loses next time. It will take a miracle. Sad.

    • Douglas+W says:

      Ronald,
Of the 100-plus Conservatives that I know, not one is down on Poilièvre.
They feel he exceeded expectations in Ontario: 53 seats.
He was up against a mainstream media that was massively sympathetic to Carney, as were the pollsters.
And it was obvious that the Ford camp had no intentions of helping.
The fact that the Liberals could not secure a majority government makes you think: these Liberals aren’t very good … and they’re running the country!

      • Douglas,

Those of us who happen to be enlightened know very well what the law of diminishing political returns means and how it can be appropriately applied here. The leader’s continued presence is a constant gift that does far more than anything else to shore up Carney and his celebrated clueless incompetents. As long as he remains, Liberals will continue to win elections convincingly. It’s the Harper playbook all over again, with Carney as the exclusive beneficiary.

      • Martin Dixon says:

The Liberals had every single star aligned in their favour(at least 10) and still could not secure a majority. Perhaps they should dump their leader?

  4. Warren,

He needs to get MORE than 82 percent in the byelection to remain even remotely credible as leader.

    • Douglas+W says:

      Ronald,
In a fair fight, he’d get at least 82%.
But this is not going to be a fair fight.
Just as our election was not a fair fight.
      Why?
Because external forces were and continue to be at work.
Americans want someone weak and manageable to be running the show in Ottawa.
They’ll be doing everything they can to help the Banker and undermine the Opposition

  5. Martin Dixon says:

And do we all remember Carney’s snarky response to Rosie about all of his conflicts-103 of which were dumped yesterday-not the use of the word “driect” vs “indirect” though so it is not complete.

“What possible conflict could you have?”

That certainly is not aging well.

    • Martin,

Carney has complied with his financial and trust obligations now that he’s an MP. Interestingly, the public summary does not provide at least an estimation of his actual net worth. No kidding…

Ten great reasons to keep him around

  7. Warren,

A+. They’re going gangbusters to try and block me from commenting on this website. By all means, continue to have at it but I PROMISE you that you will never, ever succeed again. You can take it to the bank, assholes.

  8. Curious v says:

I’d like to keep pp around for the very reasons Warren has outlined.

    • Curious,

You see, Curious, Conservatives, as a collective entity, will never admit that they put Truanons to shame. The level of collective delusion is so astonishing that it rapidly evaporates whatever previous level of good political sense they exhibited. Liberals count on that and generally are almost always not disappointed politically. Liberals thank God every day for the Conservative Party of Canada and especially its leader.

  9. Warren,

The leader’s fatal political problem can be found immediately between his ears. His view of himself and of the world is a guaranteed recipe for electoral disaster. This will come in due time, and unfortunately, on a timetable that will benefit to the maximum this poor excuse for a competent government. A sphinx has more political ability than the current principle occupant of the opposition front benches. But enough of the painfully obvious.

  10. […] principal occupant…
