This is what Canada recognized

A Thai man is lying on the ground. He seems to be bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest. The man moves his arms, a bit.

A Gazan man, one not in a Hamas uniform, takes a hoe, and starts hacking at the man’s neck, over and over. It makes a thick, crunching sound every time it lands.

It is apparent the Gazan is trying to behead the Thai man, who came to Israel to work on a farm. “God is great!” he shrieks, over and over, as he brings down the blade on the man’s neck.

Not far away, at yellow metal gate leading to the Be’eri kibbutz – which is just up the road from the site of the Nova Music Festival – a man drives up in his car, waiting for the gate to slide open. Uniformed Hamas terrorists step out from some bushes and shoot the man. He’s dead. His car slowly slides forward, and comes to rest against the gate.

The terrorists fire off a few more rounds into the man’s body, and then walk into the kibbutz. They creep past rows of single-story white homes, mostly silent. On the GoPro footage they are collecting, they can be heard whispering to each other: “Where did they go?” They are looking for Jews to kill.

  1. Warren,

Roosevelt was a true creature of isolationism, the trending ideology of its time. It took everything to get Americans to support lend-lease. They finally came around after Pearl Harbor. Roosevelt had a falling out with Churchill when he refused to enter the war voluntarily. But for Pearl Harbor and God’s wish that evil be vanquished, we would probably be under some kind of enemy occupation to this day.

  2. Warren,

Now this is fun: Hamas says it won’t “disarm” until an independent Palestinian state is established. Translation: They want an independent state that they can control, from which they can continue to launch operations against Israel. In short, no one can rub them out in Gaza, that’s for sure. Not even Israel.

  3. Warren,

Yup, at least some starvation on both sides: look at those Palestinian babies and children and those Israeli hostages. Many of them are nothing more than skin and bones. In my book, we’re talking about, for now, isolated war crimes. Israel has allowed broad aid to flow in once again, but that does not excuse what happened previously in those cases. As for Hamas, they continue to starve the hostages.

  4. Warren,

You’re on to something when you talk about Hamas and a Palestinian state. It’s no coincidence that Hamas released video of starving and withering hostages. It’s a PR campaign to push the West into a ceasefire camp that’ll be to their advantage. Call it reverse psychology, if you will.

Hamas figures they can take Fatah in West Bank elections, that is, if Abbas agrees to elections. You will note that they did just that in 2007 in Gaza elections. Fatah lost because of its legendary corruption and today that corruption is endemic in the West Bank. It’s unknown if Hamas could win in West Bank elections but my bet is they could, if permitted to run. Even in Ramallah, people are disgusted by Fatah’s ongoing corruption and personal embezellement.
