The liars jump the gun
There has been NO advance copy released. It doesn’t mention Bondi Beach, either, because that happened after the book was put to bed.
It’s a lie by a liar.

Well, some pissy POS does not like your book. Looks like your writing career is over. Maybe you could give it up and go back to pole dancing at that seedy Quebec bar. It did not work out for me and I was banned from the province but you could be that inspirational story and show that ass hat. Sorry started drinking early.
Well, IANAL, Mr. Kinsella, but you are, so I ask you, speculatively …
Is there any long-term, strategic merit in suing Chapters-Indigo for the tort of Defamation of Goods, on the grounds they [published] a demonstrably false “review” — not because Chapters-Indigo deserves to be sued here [and in any case, with a lawyer of any competence, they will claim not to be a “publisher”, because muh Internetz], but rather to force disclosure in Discovery, of the log-in details of the lying “Reviewer”, here? Maybe you could show it came from the desktop of some “Neutral” NGO, that deserves to be doxxed. Or to have Chapters-Indigo “third party” them. Or something. Just spit-balling, here.
Not a bad idea. They’ve taken it down, but there’ll be more when the book actually comes out. Going after them requires time and money and potentially raises the spectre of a Streisand Effect result.
It’s a challenging one.
Warren,
I would limit myself to, in a proforma way, put them on formal notice by means of a demand letter. That would likely see them erase such garbage expeditiously as it comes in, in a New York minute.
Yes. The battle is never over. Alas.
But: the Streisand Effect maybe works in your favour in this situation, rather than in that of the Nazis and their ilk. Maybe.
The battle for Hearts & Minds has to go where the public attention span resides. Which of course, is a moving target/battlefield.
I can’t be the only one:
