KINSELLACAST 395: Venezuela and the Pottery Barn Rule, with Lilley and Sa’d – plus Sorry Face, Love Fiend, Shrudd, Sargent Baker

  1. Warren,

Apparently, Maduro was about to nationalize Chevron’s offshore leases. Imagine that?

    • Capitalist Conservative Bot says:

Only authoritarian regimes resort to nationalizing natural resources, and it almost always ends in economic failure.

When a government signs an oil and gas agreement, companies pay royalties (often around 20%) under binding contracts protected by international law. You cannot simply cancel those agreements at will and hand the assets to Chinese or Russian state firms without severe legal, economic, and geopolitical consequences.
      That isn’t sovereignty – it’s a national-security risk.

  2. Warren,

POS seems to be threatening Rodriguez if she doesn’t do what’s “right”. He’s another Maduro.

  3. Warren,

Venezuelan heavy crude is easier to refine than ours on the Gulf coast.

  4. Warren,

What you do is get the Congressional leadership on the phone once the planes are in the air, preferably on their way back.

  5. Warren,

Mexico has just sided with Venezuela. Not good for Sheinbaum.

  6. Dipshit is going to have his hands full, you know, invading Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba, Canada, Greenland and God knows where else.

Why does this historical quote immediately come to mind? “Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?”

  7. Warren,

My sudden and unexpected New Year’s resolution is to look for PMO fingerprints. Enough said.

  8. Derek Pearce says:

Huh, I’m a little surprised WK that you’re so okay with Maduro’s abduction like that. Yes he’s the worst sort of scumbag I have nothing good to say about him, but this seems so very lawless.

  9. Martin Dixon says:

You either got Sargent Baker(which was great stuff) and Shrudd reversed or your definition of pop and mine are worlds apart. Love Fiend had a Ladytron intro.

Folks don’t know what a full blown winter looks like unless you have lived in the Bruce Grey or WNY snow belts. A 35km stretch of road from Lions Head to Tobermory has already been closed once this winter and a few years ago it was closed for two weeks and that road is the ONLY way to get out of Tobermory. Meanwhile they call the army in to clear a couple of inches of snow in Toronto.

Watching the usual suspects weigh in at the UN on Venezuela. I wonder what our position will be. Carney took over 12 hours to finish his focus group testing and say nothing. And, of course, T is not going to invade Canada. Anyone who believes that is an insane lunatic and there sure are a lot of them on social media and they are missing the fact that Harris would have gone in too. The bounty was raised by Biden and they have been likely war gaming this since before he left office. Everyone needs to watch that video up there to see what is actually going on down there. Not exactly a socialist paradise. Mamdani should take note before he goes full blown communist.

  10. Martin,

Dipshit POS thinks he can effect regime change from the cheap seats. What a first-class moron…

Those heading socialist heaven aren’t about to give up the oil without a fight. The kickbacks and outright fraud must be out of this world.

So, it takes boots on the ground in a guerilla warfare environment. That ought to be fun. Not. Can you say quickly bogged down? It’ll be hell.

    • Martin Dixon says:

If only half of the stuff laid out in that video is true, then I am sure most of the citizens of Venezuela are delighted that someone is trying something. I asked one of my brothers who lives in Columbia for his thoughts since that country could be next. He said the poverty rate was 50% before Chavez but that sounds like the good old days. He is a member of the green faction of my siblings(literally-one ran for the Greens a couple of times) and thinks going in for their oil is a terrible idea.
