The 100 Club

The 100 Club is the oldest live music venue in London.  It is also a crucial part of the history of the Stones, Oasis, the Clash, the White Stripes and countless others.

Due to sky-high rents and exorbitant taxes, the 100 Club is facing closure in a matter of weeks. If you want to help prevent that, click here.

In the meantime, here’s a ditty by four of the loveable moptops who also played there.

And I like Peter Kormos, and I wish he was one of ours

[…and, um, I’m Canadian, Peter.]

Mr. Peter Kormos: Of course, the Liberals have just finished their weekend confab during which the keynote speech was on the art of mudslinging.

Well, I read the book just Friday night, after I read that in the paper. But I do notice that there was some material distributed during that weekend confab. I have copies here.

(Blah blah blah.)

This is material that was handed out, I’m told, at the weekend confab by the Liberals where they were being spoken to by the American [sic] king of mudslinging, Warren Kinsella, for whom I have a great deal of admiration and who is, of course, an expert at mudslinging. I only wish he was one of ours, rather than the Liberals.

I like Warren Kinsella.

My Chemical Romance: Na Na Na

I’ve never been a huge MCR fan, and neither is my Bad Religion-adoring daughter, but we like this. The NME raved about it being a “pretty thrilling blast of gonzo pop-punk.”  True enough.

All that I am going to say about what is happening in Belleville

This sentence in a number of stories caught my eye:

“During the attack, [the victim] pleaded with him not to post the photos on the Internet.”

So what do pretty much all of the media do?  They do what she begged the killer not to do: they post photographs that have the effect of further victimizing the victims.

Some days, I just don’t get it.
