Rob Ford: drunk

Story here.

And anyone involved in politics in Ontario can tell you this story is the tip of the proverbial ice berg. There’s a lot more.

What’s it mean? It means this conservative joke will continue to elect progressives in and around the GTA indefinitely. He’s the best thing that has happened to his opponents in years. I mean, kicked out of a pro-military event: for conservative hacks, that’s tantamount to sending back your Diamond Jubilee medal to Stephen Harper, wrapped in a copy of the Liberal Red Book. It just isn’t done.

A few weeks ago, I posted the photo, below (but deliberately avoided commenting on what his accuser, also pictured, was saying about him). My point: does this guy in any way help his side?

Um, no.

UPDATE:  And let’s not forget this week’s other mess: his comments about an ongoing criminal trial.  If the accused’s lawyers don’t end up using Ford’s sub judice comments in an appeal, I’ll be pretty surprised.

Your posted picture as well as dozens of others over the past two years show a mayor, Rob Ford, who is deep in over his head and struggling to survive the only way that he can.

He has embarrassed himself, his family, his friends, the Canadian Armed Forces, and every short-sighted Torontonian who voted for him and his clan!

    Very sad indeed!

  2. Lance says:

Does it help his side? No………but he’ll win.

  3. Andrew says:

When a 400 lb guy is staggering drunk, it becomes more an issue of public safety. That guy would flatten you if he keeled over!

  4. Sean says:

I love Rob Ford and hope he stays as Mayor for a long time…. Just because I can’t wait to see what crazy shit he will get into next week and the week after that and the week after that.

  5. Eddie says:

We can use this to our advantage and teach him how good transit is (particularly streetcars since he could hop the longbranch)
just install the starter kill breathalyser in all his vehicles
    he’d never drive again
Seriously though at some point this buffoon is going to get in a serious drunk driving accident if he doesn’t clean up his act, having known a few Alcoholics in my day I know he will drink and drive, probably did this am on the way to work

It’s kind of weird. When the whole calling into the radio to inappropriately comment on a trail thing happen my wife looked at me and said that there was something really wrong with the guy. I just laughed it off, and made some flippant comment but she was convinced and said he has to be going through some substance abuse issues. Women’s intuition I suppose.

I hope he can find the strength to seek the help he needs.

I bet that someday Bluto’s gonna be a senator.

I’ll be interested to see if there are any further fishing trips with Steve this summer.

Sickening. I’ll take boring Jim Watson over this fool, any day. In your other string about Amiel’s rambling, pointless and mortifying screed about things for which she knows nothing, a bright discussion about personal responsiblity has broken out. Ford could learn a few pointers. Toronto’s self-loathing mayor…

  11. Sometimes I feel a little sympathy for the slow motion train wreck, but then I think about what he has done as Mayor, and what he would do given enough time, and any vestiges of sympathy evaporate. He has not demolished himself completely yet, but I cannot help but wonder just WHEN the tipping point will be reached with his supporters? I can sympathise a bit with a drunk, but an intolerant, abusive, drunk driving, and violent drunk? AS MAYOR?

    what a poor man’s Burlosconi…

  14. G. Babbitt says:

Oh you Toronto centric commentators. London is where the action is. Our mayor has been charged under the criminal code. He was on the board of charity that CRA is investigating. And even after an Ombudsman warning he chaired a meeting of almost half the councillors in a private room in a restaurant where participants claimed it “was a conincidence” that they showed up there.

  15. Where or where do you Torontonians find these guys?? Just curious.

  16. DJ says:

I just don’t get why the conservative establishment is so stubborn about supporting this buffoon. Just because he is right wing? Just because he’s not David Miller? David Miller was by far a much better mayor. He was a respectable representative of Toronto whether you agreed with him or not. Rob Ford is a continual embarrassment. Olivia Chow, Toronto needs you desperately!

  17. doris says:

What I don’t get is his first sign of guilt, not being recognised – a refusal to sue the ass off the TOStar – he has been severely damged by libel here; if it is not true!

  18. Don McGowan says:

Someone touched on Berlusconi. Yes, we’re experiencing a different form of Bunga-Bunga. I just hope that Rob Ford finally starts using a city supplied driver and stops driving, otherwise we could be seeing some tragic results of Banga-Banga.

  19. Wally Moran says:

You asinine piece of crap. You show a still picture of the man with his eyes half shut, and claim he’s intoxicated. Ask any wedding photographer to show you the outtakes of any job he’s done. You’ll find dozens like that.
Your ‘proof’ is no proof of da proof and when you don’t have da proof, you don’t have nuttin’. You people are beyond low.

Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.
Sun Tzu – Art of War

Send a complimentary bottle of liquor to the Grand Buffoon every day – do you even know his brand? An elite force would. Send ounces of mary jane and grams of c@caine to Grand Buffoon. Enlist (conscript?!) high-end pr@stitute(s) as a “honey trap” and glom on to him whenever possible – when the Vi@gra comes out, make sure the hidden video cameras are rolling. Politicians are remarkably horny – JFK said he needed a “strange piece of @ss everyday” (CBC). Work on this principle. Indeed, the enemy almost brought down the Trude@uites with this strategy in the nightclubs of New York and London. It is axiomatic to aim the weapons of war at the weakest points, the delicate parts, the deranged…

See you in hell my M@chiavellian – J@suitical colleague.
