The York Tunnel Mystery: Detective Kinsella to the rescue

You’ve read about this, I’m sure.

So, why didn’t the supposedly-expert authorities do this?

  1. Peter O'Malley says:

New emergency Anti-Terror Tunnel Safety Surveillance Law needed?

  2. Kelly says:

Because they built it? Or CSIS did and a turf war has erupted? Or the police really are as incompetent as they seem to be trying to demonstrate as of late? So many possibilities…

  3. Michael says:

If it’s filled in, how d we even know the tunnel existed?

  4. Doconnor says:

Probably because of the danger of collapse and killing someone innocent or guilty. Besides, they can still keep it under surveillance after filling it in. That probably is what they have been doing for the last few weeks.

  5. Jon Powers says:

Fess up, Kinsella. That was your zombie apocalypse bunker. You probably have 5 more of those hidden throughout the city.

  6. patrick says:

Too much information would completely ruin the “terrorists in teacups” narrative we are be sold. Finding out an engineer made a mistake would just spoil everything. Of course that’s just cynical of me and I don’t drink tea.

it’s the entrance to the exits of evil. that one belongs to Baird. wonder where Del Maestro’s is. Oh breaking news. terror threat against Canadian embassy in Kenya. how convenient.

  7. smelter rat says:

So they found a rosary and a poppy in the tunnel. Fess up Kinsella. You know more than you’re letting on.

  8. Michael Reintjes says:

Somewhere Richard Attenborough and Steve McQueen are very angry….

  9. Paul Brennan says:

I understand that Jerry’s Tunnel Service left a few business cards tacked to the wall so they have a good lead…

  10. Chuck says:

From all evidence acquired, fingerprints, palmprints, bootprints etc., from all possible sources of equipment, tools, materials, etc., they have nothing?

  11. davie says:

    1950’s nuke war shelter?

  12. graham watt says:

Sounded familiar. A few monhs ago or more, CBC ran a TV piece on a tunnel in WW1 in which I believe the Canadians had built a tunnel to allow Canadianand British troops to congregate for battle against Germans, Unooticed.,sort of an underground surprise attack. Peter Mansbridge was there, the tunnel was narrow and had writings of soldiers here and there on the earthen and rock sides. An eerie similarity to the toronto situation, especially then you consider the finding of a poppy and prayer beads in the toronto site. Could this have been a way to bring heavily-armed people into a group during the Games unnoticed until the very moment of attack?

  13. Nic Coivert says:

Certainly puzzling. Destroy the evidence then ask the public for clues?

  14. Ronald O'Dowd says:

    Warren,

Should you hear of anyone needing extra help to build that tunnel between Ottawa and Calgary, well I’m your man!

  15. sezme says:

Obviously the work of one Rob Ford. Built last summer during a cocaine binge, he was determined to build more subways subways subways, even if he had to do it himself.

  16. Sean says:

I can’t be the only one to think there might be a masonic / occult tie in some how. The cops say the length is 33.3 inches. Totally masonic. I’m surprised the media hasn’t picked up on that.

  17. Bruce A says:

Just a wild guess but this has got engineering students written all over it.

  18. Derryk says:

Most of the jokes here aren’t even funny.

  19. Rich says:

It might be important to know the orientation direction along which the long axis of the tunnel points…eg:- N 10 degrees W . Then take that and a scale map and draw on it the orientation line of the tunnel and see what that line crosses.

If anyone sees that info posted anywhere, please put it here too.

  20. Derek Pearce says:

According to SNL’s Stefon: TO’s hottest club is Mystery Tunnel. This place has everything- reinforced walls, a generator, and the DJ is a Catholic WW2 ghost!

  21. Marc-André Chiasson says:

Has anyone seen anything posted about where the entrance to the tunnel was located. Was it out in the open, or in someone’s basement, or what, etc?

  22. Roberto says:

The tunnel was the work of jihadis who intended to attack the Rexall Centre during the Canadian Open Tennis tournament. After the attack they would reenter the tunnel and emerge on the other side for their escape plan. The tunnel would have been extended but it was discovered and abandoned. The poppy and prayer beads were just props to deceive in case the tunnel was discovered. So obvious.
