Being sane matters, too

It might take you another few months to realize this but you too will be called a Nazi and White Supremacist. The global war is on and your uniform is your skin…content of your heart does not matter. All we can do now is mitigate and minimize the damage.

The hubby just pointed out to me that calling him a Quisling would be nastier and more effective. But some activists can’t resist jumping the shark.

I had never heard of this person. So I looked up a couple of sites. What she is doing does look like the kind of slam poetry or performance poet that is a part of her former years. Just as a crowd can be worked up by a speaker, I think when speaking to a crowd a person can get worked up as well.
I’m sure some others in her organization will have a chat with her about her choice of words.

(In looking up Khogali, I came across a Toronto talk host named Agar. Good thing the rest of Canada doesn’t always have to follow what happens in Toronto.)

No big surprise. This is the way radical identity politics often works. The enemy is an ever-expanding category of oppressors located in ever-widening circles.

I think you could argue that Trudeau definitely shows White Privilege.

Remember his condescending reply during the about canoe sheds during the townhall to the indigenous chief’s question about the condition of his people’s youth? That’s the definition of patronizing white privilege, and the peculiar Canadian kind. Those who wouldn’t be caught dead making a similar statement about Blacks or Jews, just let stuff like that slip out of their mouths when it concerns Natives, and on national TV no less.

And when you couple an attitude like that to the fact that the man making such statements actually controls the budget that chief’s people, you have a pretty good argument that Trudeau is in fact a white supremacist (of the Canadian kind).

    • Warren says:

      That’s fucking ridiculous.

      • Simon says:

How do you figure it’s ridiculous, or even “fucking” ridiculous?

It’s uncontroversial that the relationship between Canada and the First Nations, though first one of partnership, became one of white supremacy. It was called “cultural genocide” for a reason. This was the legacy of residential schools, Indian Agents and so on.

So does the system of white supremacy live on? Well, it’s being dismantled. But when Trudeau makes a comment like he did about “canoe sheds” that shows that it’s not totally gone. That’s not conscious white supremacy (i.e. identifying as a Nazi), but when you lecture a chief about what his children really need, that’s subconsciously taking part in the attitude of the old system.

(For the record, I doubt Trudeau was even aware that he was doing it. But that is my point about Canadians who wouldn’t say anything bad about others, unconsciously slip into this stuff. Though in Trudeau’s case it’s complicated because he is tasked with running a system still tainted by white supremacy, and no doubt that rubs off as well).

Well, WK, there is more than a few First Nations activists and spokespersons who sure noticed it.

      • Pipes says:

I think BLM have identified important issues, and they are allowing themselves to be controlled by a megalomaniac and a few “white phobics”. None of that helps.

And, please tell me what ‘privileges’ I have as a white person that others don’t have?

We are getting meaner and meaner and meaner by the day.

The revolution eats its own. What a tragedy.

      • Ridiculosity says:

Absolutely fucking absurd. Patronizing? There are a (very) few things we can call Trudeau on, being a White Supremacist is Not One of Them.

You are applying a whole lot of lipstick to this pig.

  6. Charlie says:

    Of course they did.

In that same vein, the Liberal party is a thinly veiled Nazi party that harbours hatred of all diverse communities.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: 1) BLM in Canada is purely a Toronto phenomena; 2) their main objective appears to be social obstructionism as opposed to constructive dialogue; 3) their claims of persecution are not borne out by statistic — where Indigenous populations are, in fact, suffering the broadest brunt of injustices; and 4) this is an attempt to capitalize on what is a very legitimate movement in the US, for self glorification here in Canada, where the same history and situation does not exist.

I am on the margins of the empire, but I sometimes think our media tends to cover the more extreme voices in an organization, than the, perhaps, more substantial and thoughtful voices. Maybe here in Clickworld it jsut doesn’t sell to publish longer discussions and ideas arguments.

    • bluegreenblogger says:

as far as I can tell, `our media` extended about zero coverage. IMHO, the whole Pride fiasco discredited BLM. This was covered by `BlogTO`, I didn`t see it anywhere else, probably because it is bat-shit crazy.

  8. Miles Lunn says:

This sounds like the boy crying wolf. Call someone a white supremacist when they actually are like Donald Trump and Stephen Bannon, not Trudeau who is probably the most tolerant of the G7 leaders and one of the most tolerant PMs we’ve ever had (I am not a supporter, but at least like his support of diversity and tolerance.

First Jane Fonda – now this. It is why I rarely leave the house…
