Trudeau’s Trump war room

Here:

“They’ve done exactly what they should do. They’ve set up a war room to deal with Donald Trump problems,” said Warren Kinsella, president of Daisy Group and a former Liberal staffer, adding that such units are focused on tracking issues and formulating responses.

Mr. Kinsella said Mr. Clow worked under him in former Ontario Liberal premier Dalton McGuinty’s 2007 and 2011 campaign war rooms, and he’s “one of the best war room guys around.”

“You get stuff breaking with this guy [Trump] all the time. He’s a monkey with a machine gun. You need people who are tracking what’s taking place in the United States now and responding,” said Mr. Kinsella.

“You’ve got the president of the United States coming up with policy at three o’clock in the morning on Twitter, so the traditional bureaucratic response … none of that works anymore. You need a war room to respond to this guy, and I think that’s what the Trudeau guys have wisely set up.”

It’s not my monkey. But it is our circus.

And that in a nutshell is why Trump won, that was the constant message of his campaign: the forgotten man and woman forgotten no more. (While Hillary called them the “deplorables”).

All they want is to make more money for themselves and their country. Trump said he would do that by bringing industry back to the US. (While Hillary didn’t even bother to campaign in their states).

And do you see why liberals in the US have lost the working class? Because of attitudes like yours. If such attitudes continue, then the Republican really are going to become the party of the working class in the US. And the Dems the party of the upper class and their servants.

That’s true as far it goes, Simon, but his cabinet choices hardly suggest Trump was serious abut any of this. Indeed, one of his executive orders allows financial advisors to put their own interests ahead of those of their clients. Some party of the working class. They never were before and they aren’t now.

On the contrary, his cabinet choices show he is deadly serious about increasing jobs for the industrial working class. Why else do you think it is so top heavy with oil and gas executives, and he okayed the pipelines Obama stalled?

Those are the same oil and gas jobs that kept the Canadian working class in middle class salaries and prevented us getting our own Tea Party. Instead they voted for the centre-right Conservatives, instead of a far right option. And these are the same pipelines moderate progressives like Trudeau support in Canada.

He has thrown a few bones to Wall Street, and that includes financial deregulation, which is dangerous. But the great thrust has been to start encouraging oil and gas jobs, and manufacturing via the threat of tariffs.

I earned half of my living off the Òil patch`. I also got myself an Economics degree in the distant past. So I know how much the Oil and Gas sector are actually worth. In dollar terms about 4% of the economy. In employment terms, a small fraction of that number. Oil and Gas never drove the Economy. What they did drive was massively dis-proportionate Government revenues, because abouyt $0.50 out of every Oil dollar comes back to the Government. So when Harper told us it drove the economy, what he was really saying was that Alberta depends on it, and those revenues are great when they are his to dispose of. We can pretend we do not need taxes, and spend (and borrow against) our natural endowments instead.

That is a good idea. Funny thing, Canada probably has more diplomatic and communications `skills`and talent addressing Trump`s America, than Trump has addressing the whole world. Seriously, the Administration has about ZERO ambassadors, analysts, department and committee heads. It is actually quite illuminating, that the USA has so few permanent professional civil servants formulating and implementing foreign policy. The current President is uniquely positioned to fail, he has no policy expertise to stand on, did not train, or bring expertise with him, did not hire expertise, his administration will learn how to rule an empire on the job, ROFL.

Yes, but is to set up such a war room ‘unpresidented’ lol.
