Paul Fromm and the Proud Boys: when neo-Nazis of a feather flock together

Paul Fromm is perhaps the leading Canadian far Right leader.  Fromm has decades of involvement with the Canadian organized hate movement, from the Edmund Burke Society to the Western Guard to the Heritage Front to a myriad number of white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups.  The Southern Poverty Law Centre tells us this:

From 1974 until 1997, Fromm served as a public school teacher with the Peel Region Board of Education. He was fired from his position after speaking at several Heritage Front events, one of which fell on Hitler’s birthday. A video of the December 9, 1990, event captured Fromm, in front of a Nazi flag, speaking to a crowd shouting “Sieg Heil!,” “white power,” “Hail The Order!,” and “nigger, nigger, nigger, out out out,” while performing the Nazi salute. He also hailed John Ross Taylor, a Canadian fascist, as a “hero.”

Fromm spoke at the “Students For Free Speech” rally in support of the Proud Boys’ “Halifax 5” at Queen’s Park on Saturday.  Incredibly, the Jewish Defence League were there providing security for the event.  (How they could not notice the presence of Canada’s most notorious Holocaust denier is beyond my understanding, but there you go.)

Anyway.  Below is a photo of Fromm at the event.  It makes clear that Rebel Media/Gavin McInnes’ Proud Boys are now openly associated with Holocaust denial and neo-Naziism.

It also suggests to me that all of this is going to get worse before it gets better.

I am entirely unimpressed that this shit is coming out of my home province. What a bunch of wasted human life. Maybe someday the brain scientists of the world will figure out how to prevent people from turning into such rubbish in the first place.

Ever read Earthly Powers? It’s one of those books that IMO deserves re-reads. Part of it deals with WW II. Burgess writes about people back then like Fromm and gang “God alone knew from what suppurating primordial dungheap man had arisen.”

The Alt-Right is trying to spin the death of Justine Damond as “white genocide”. All the facts surrounding police officer Mohamed Noor are not known, so we can assume this is Islamophobia.

Doug Saunders wrote well of the social realities confronting officer Noor: “Britain has an ethnic problem…becoming increasingly prone to violence, rioting and substance abuse….a drag on British society ‘white English’ students are now outperformed in school…The English are more prone than other groups to drop out of school early, to live on welfare benefits, to become unhealthy and to engage in crime. In measures of alcohol abuse, ‘trouble with police while drinking’ and lawbreaking, they outrank any other ethnic group in Britain (except the Irish). Riots led by ethnic English youths tore the cities of England apart…There is a constant sense that the poor English are about to break out in violence.” (Globe & Mail). Things are obviously much worse in America.

It should be remembered Damond was outside her house and in pajamas, a state of dress indicating she was clearly deranged. Perhaps Noor panicked? In time we shall know. At present we must assume Noor was trying to defend himself and People of Color from the White menace.
