About that “sorry not sorry” ad

Whoever came up with this fetid, squalid, shambolic atrocity should be – in the memorable words of a certain Campaign Wizard™️ – hauled into the village square and pilloried. It is among the worst I have ever seen – and that’s saying something.

This is what $70,000 a month gets you, folks. Thankfully, the lot of them will be finding a new line of work in ten days’ time.

Man, you really are not a fan of these Ontario Liberals.

Any particular reason why? Because your beef doesn’t strike me as partisan or ideological.

…oh she has laryngitis…bad time for that

    I don’t mind it – and I’m voting NDP.

It’s funny. I actually like the ad as an argument. I do not like it as an ad, at all. Tone deaf.

If there is any truth to the adage that people vote for the leader they would most like to have a (cheap) beer with, she should ask for a table for one. That is so awful on so many levels.

KW: “Hey guys I’m the Premier with the least personal popularity in Canada, but you know, my policies have actually done a lot of good I think. Not everyone agrees, but still…I think my policies are much more popular than I am. What kind of ads should be run in this campaign?”

Board/Wizard: “Oh easy. Focus on you….just you. We’ll run ads with you on screen the entire ad. That’s the ticket.”

This is probably the best take of any offered up so far, by anyone.

This reminds of Stephen Harper’s campaign’s decision to focus squarely on him as the face of the party in 2015.

When you’re a government that is long in the teeth and helmed by a leader no one likes, don’t remind voters why they’re looking for change.

Translation of the ad: “Anyone who dislikes me, or thinks I’ve made mistakes, is stupid.”

Way to appeal to the undecided voter! I guess when you’ve convinced yourself of your own greatness, and surround yourself only with yes-men, you feel the need to “correct” Ontarians who have you currently sitting 3rd place in the polls.

You nailed it. There is more than a whiff of the hubris we saw and continue to see from a certain losing candidate down south. I wonder whether her next career will be making speeches about how unspeakably flawed everyone who voted against her was.

      • Steve T says:

Thanks for the +1, but Hillary was definitely not an analogy in my mind. Hillary was actually popular with more Americans than Trump. So, at least to that extent, she has more legitimate grounds for questioning.

“Hillary was actually popular with more Americans than Trump.”

Yes, she was a big hit in California.

Is it too late for Pupatello to step in as Leader?

Does seem a tad passive aggressive doesn’t it.

  11. Jack T. says:

As the creepy God Save Justin Trudeau trailer – where one hears the voice but the lips don’t move – perhaps folks fear the idea of Trudeau and Wynne’s psyches possessing their very souls to communicate telepathically? “This isn’t a question of who’s going to win. The question is how they’re going to win.” – they being not Liberals – evidently, by not being creepy.

  12. Todd Robson says:

Is nobody going to point out this is a Demi Lovato song?

  13. Sean says:

Once upon a time the liberals were blessed with intelligent, insightful, intuitive inside operatives. But not these days
