It begins

At a pub in London last night, I was telling a British-Canadian friend that Trump can pardon himself, and his reptilian children, out of federal crimes – but not state-level ones.

And, look what glorious news arrives the very next day. Take that, you foul, feral criminal bastard. It begins.

The New York State attorney general’s office filed a scathingly worded lawsuit on Thursday taking aim at the Donald J. Trump Foundation, accusing the charity and the Trump family of sweeping violations of campaign finance laws, self-dealing and illegal coordination with the presidential campaign.

The lawsuit, which seeks to dissolve the foundation and bar President Trump and three of his children from serving on nonprofit organizations, was an unprecedented rebuke of a sitting president. The attorney general also sent referral letters to the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Election Commission for possible further action, adding to Mr. Trump’s extensive legal problems.

The lawsuit, filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, culminated a nearly two-year investigation of Mr. Trump’s charity, which became a subject of scrutiny during and after the 2016 presidential campaign. While such foundations are supposed to be devoted to charitable activities, the complaint asserts that Mr. Trump’s was often used to curry political favor or settle legal claims against his various businesses, and even spent $10,000 on a portrait of Mr. Trump that was hung at one of his golf clubs.

Hmm, interesting that they never investigated the Clinton foundation. Politics? Of course not.

Or maybe because there wasn’t sufficient evidence to warrant an investigation? Did they ever investigate other presidents, Republican or Democrat?

I love how every criticism of Trump ends with a breathless “…but…but… Hillary!”

I don’t think the FBI or DOJ that is now being shown to be fully politicized by Obama and is rife with Democrat operatives would have any interest in “sufficient evidence to warrant an investigation” of the Clinton Foundation. Plenty of evidence is available, but that’s not their mission.

You are aware that the recent report showed the Comey violated protocol to do thing that damaged Clinton? Things that likely tipped the balance to allow Trump to win.

As Scott Adams says, we must be watching the same screen but you are seeing an entirely different movie. For example, Sen. Kennedy on Strzok’s ‘We’ll Stop’ Trump Text: ‘In Louisiana, We Call That Bias’

“Strzok’s decision to prioritize the counterintelligence probe of the Trump campaign over the Clinton email criminal investigation ‘led us to conclude that we did not have confidence that Strzok’s decision was free from bias.”’ – Inspector General

I thought it was The Russians?

I really would like to know, though, how it is possible that when ordered to hand over thousands of emails to the FBI the Clinton campaign instead destroyed them – not just deleting them, but actually smashing the hard drives with a hammer – and rather than being arrested, the people involved were *given immunity* instead. Love to see THAT investigated.

(oh, and Obama DID KNOW about Hillary’s illegal server. HE LIED when asked about it. No one seems to care much about that, either…hmmm…)

          But . . . But . . . Hillary!

      • Fred from BC says:

The FBI has been investigating the Clinton Foundation for months now (it was all over the news in January). I’m not sure if their focus is on Haiti, uranium or something else, but time will tell…

A “scathingly worded” lawsuit? Nope, no politics there. I trust we can look forward to a scathingly worded defense. Maybe they could slug it out on Twitter.

Even on this website (It’s not a blog!) we have the deflection method of crisis response – invoke Hillary, claim bias, change the channel.

Just another of hundreds of incidents, tweets, statements by a man who, were he held to the standards of any other president, or even candidate, would have never ascended to the White House. And I am no fan of the Clintons.

About time! Reports of Trumplethinskin using has foundation as a slush fund have been out over a year.
