Um, what?

“Handled”?

“I’m sorry. If I had known you were a reporter for a national newspaper, I never would have been so forward”

Translation “I usually only get sexual assaulty with girls who won’t report on it in the national media”

It’s undated. But they don’t refer to him as PM, Liberal leader, or even MP, so I’m guessing before 2006?

There is shit tonne of stories about him from those days and more recent years. If the dam breaks………

  2. Kevin says:

Presumably he’s learned something since that event, which happened 18 years ago.

  3. Pedant says:

If this had occurred during T2’s undergrad days in the early-90s I’d shrug it off. But he was 28 at the time of this incident. Patrick Brown’s career was ruined (though I could imagine him making a comeback…) due to a similarly inappropriate come-on that occurred when he was 30.

    • Matt says:

You’d shrug off a man assaulting a woman because of his age?

This wasn’t a one time incident.

Hopefully EVERYTHING will start to come out now and Trudeau will finally be shown to be the hypocrite and fraud he is.

And the other assholes from the other parties too.

      • Pedant says:

A drunk 18-21 year old guy making an ass out of himself at a party would hardly be earth-shattering news. I was always a gentleman at that age but many, even most, of my peers were not. A little nuance please. And I loathe T2 so this isn’t coming from a partisan Liberal.

But past that age, yes it’s a bit more significant I would argue.

        • Matt says:

Where are you getting your information he was drunk or had even been drinking?

          • Pedant says:

You misunderstood. I was saying that if, hypothetically, this were a story from Trudeau’s young student days (you asked what age had to do with it), it would be a nothing burger. I said “drunk” since alcohol often accompanies young men acting like jerks.

The fact that he was nearly 30 when this incident occurred makes it more serious, but still not much in the way of scandal. I have no idea whether or not Trudeau was intoxicated during the above incident.

Something serious dating from after he became an MP will need to surface in order to inflict real political damage, in my opinion.

      • Pedant says:

And by the way, how exactly is he a hypocrite on this issue? Yes he proclaims himself a feminist, etc, but that doesn’t mean he’s claiming to have ALWAYS been a feminist.

He also remained pointedly silent on the Brown scandal. If he had exploited the Brown incidents (both a good decade old) for partisan rhetoric in attempt to tar all Conservatives, then yes you could scream hypocrite. But he didn’t do that.

  4. Gyor says:

And nobody meantioned this until now?

  5. Luke says:

… this makes me very uncomfortable. 18 years is a long time though. Perhaps he has learned. More to come in this matter, I presume.

  6. Peter says:

It isn’t just the typeset that marks this as dated. It’s hard to imagine something similar today being described as a violation of “proper etiquette”.

I doubt this will get much traction, but if it does, I hope JT’s handlers (and Sophie) have learned from several liberal politicians down south in the past year that you don’t get a pass on this stuff by boasting about what a feminist you are and how much you have done to support women’s rights.

    • Matt says:

If what Trudeau did to this woman became public, yes it would gain traction.

Let’s just say Trump would be proud of him.

Justin Ghomeshi all ways doing great things for the ladies! Except that reporter back in 2000 he groped.

  8. Claire says:

Since this story broke, women I know feel sick that he is the PM. Literally nauseated. It’s the kind of feeling one often gets when finding out someone close and trusted has lied – over and over. It’s called narcissistic abuse – and by our so called Prime Minister.

  9. george says:

WE should dig deeper into his past and expose him, it cost Brown everything and he was a nicer guy?
