My question.

    I suppose organized crime.

The obvious answer is the black market.

And with everything I’ve been hearing about this guy, I believe the mentall illness claim is 100% bullshit.

Media like the CBC are actively trying to sanitize his past. The question is why?

    • Westguy says:

I haven’t heard yet if it was his gun. If he bought it, then yes, illegal sources are likely. But it could have belonged to someone he knew who didn’t store it properly or securely and he got a hold of it that way.

If this guy had a Possession and Acquisition License, who signed as references, who was the guarantor of the photo, and who did the safety training?

PAL is like other gov’t programs. It doesn’t really work vary well. It creates activities for gov’t drones to monitor the law abiding, and doesn’t do anything to stop the criminally minded.

    • Matt says:

Every PAL or RPAL owner is subjected to daily security checks through the RCMP/Canadian Firearms Centre’s continuous eligibility screening program.

His “alleged” numerous interactions with police over the years would have been caught by the CES program.

Suggests he has no, or ever had a licence.

I know you’re not a fan Warren, but Christie Blatchford is reporting the shooter had no gun licence and had connections to a gang who operate around his building.

“The obvious answer is the black market.”

Yes. Not a lot of background checks in the back alleys. The issue seems to be with those that believe eliminating all legal guns will solve the problem. These would be the same people that believe cops shouldn’t be able stop and check those they believe maybe carrying guns. IE: carding/profiling. Apparently if it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, it could be a robin. The criminals and criminally inclined will always have/get guns. Full stop. No stopping it. Targeting those that may have them illegally will get some of them off the streets. IE: if you go out of your way to look like a gang-banger don’t whine about being pulled over because you look like a gang-banger. I trust our cops (for the most part). They are front line. Another thing that pisses me off (sorry, I suffer from OGS: old guy syndrome) is how Mom is oblivious to her son’s activities,RE: when he doesn’t have a job but drives a BMW? I recall having to prove I bought a comic book and didn’t steal it, to my parents. Different times I guess . . . but back then we all carried pocket knives. Christmas and Birthday gifts. However, no one and I mean NO ONE would even consider pulling a knife out, no matter how bad you were being beaten. We also grew up with guns. Everybody had them.
Christmas and Birthday gifts. Nobody; and I mean NO BODY; shot anyone . . . Different times I guess . . .

FFS this is getting stupid. TheSAME media outlet is reporting that:

    a) The gun he used was illegally smuggled in from the US

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/teacher-says-faisal-hussain-told-him-i-want-to-kill-someone-1.4028214

    and

    b) The gun was legally imported into Canada and stolen from a Saskatoon retailer.

    https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/gun-used-in-danforth-mass-shooting-stolen-from-saskatoon-store-source-1.4027018

Personally, I doubt Cam Wooley would put his name to information if he wasn’t sure it was accurate. He was a highly, highly respected OPP officer. Doubt his police sources would steer him wrong.

    • Matt says:

      Sweet Jebus.

Now CTV National News is report a hybrid of the two.

The gun the the shooter used was illegally smuggled in from the US and his brother is tied to the guns stolen from the Saskatoon retailer, some of which were part of a seizure of 30 guns in Pickering Ontario in 2017
