Blackface is as blackface does

We are now standing by for Judy Sgro to announce a new barbaric cultural practices hotline!

  1. Steve says:

This just continues to reinforce that Junior clearly believes Quebeckers and, by extension, himself, are better than the rest of Canada. Anyone doubting that need only go look up interviews he did before becoming leader that Canada was worse off when Harper was PM, and that he would advocate for Quebec separation if Canadian values (again, Harper) diverged substantially from Quebec.

Racist indeed, but not because of blackface.

  2. Gilbert says:

This just makes the PM desperate for votes. He has no principles.

  3. Ontario John says:

So let me get this straight. Groper McBlackface ranted about Kellie Leitch being racist for promoting a value’s test, but Groper supports Quebec doing the same thing. That is so “progressive”. And I see Groper’s Toronto Star has joined the Globe and Mail in spreading rumors that Scheer will be dumped as leader.

  4. Larry says:

The Liberal Party was at one time a Centrist one, they are now engaged in a virtual bloodbath to out left the NDP…

  5. You know me, I don’t exactly send Trudeau bouquets of flowers but at least he was honest that it’s Quebec’s jurisdiction at that level and that it’s not for him to intervene. Again, he was more honest than previously in saying that in the areas clearly covered by federal jurisdiction on immigration that he would not rule out an eventual court challenge to Bill 21. But trying to have it both ways rarely works. You tend to piss people off on both sides of the divide.

But the litigants in court are pretty damned smart — challenging Bill 21 using Charter sections not subject to the Notwithstanding Clause. As we say around here: chapeau!

  6. Max says:

Mr. O’Dowd “at least he was honest that it’s Quebec’s jurisdiction at that level and that it’s not for him to intervene”. You are a fool or naive. Which is it. Justin tells English Canada during one debate that he “might” vaguely intervene. And then in the French debate for Quebecers, where Bill 21 is popular, that its not for him to intervene. So, Mr. O’Dowd, what are you?

    • Fred from BC says:

“So, Mr. O’Dowd, what are you?”

He is neither. He’s a Quebecer, I believe.

(and didn’t he say the exact same things you did?)

      • Max says:

No, he did not. I was quoting him. (one doesn’t normally quote themselves). But given your defense of him, perhaps you can enlighten me as to how you both support Justin’s juxtaposition – if you will.

        • Fred from BC says:

” But given your defense of him, perhaps you can enlighten me as to how you both support Justin’s juxtaposition – if you will.”

We DON’T support it, that’s the point. IT IS Quebec’s jurisdiction, and that is what Ronald meant when he said at least Trudeau was being honest about that ( “More honest” than previously claiming he might intervene).

          Followed by this:

“But trying to have it both ways rarely works. You tend to piss people off on both sides of the divide.”

Where do you see “support” for Trudeau there, Max?

      • Ronald O'Dowd says:

        Thanks, Fred.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

    • Ronald O'Dowd says:

      Max,

Perhaps I was not sufficiently clear enough for you so here it goes: the part you quoted is about Quebec’s right under her jurisdiction to create and impose a values test. That’s a narrow point of law.

But Trudeau also said that the federal concurrent and primary power over immigration would legitimately allow them to properly contest Bill 21 in the courts. That amounts to a general legal principle and right. No matter who wins, I expect to see Ottawa eventually intervene in the case at bar.

I partially support Bill 21 as regards judges, peace and police officers and correctional officials but not the part governing health sector workers or teachers, as they are not legal representatives of the State.

  7. Ontario John says:

And with the Conservatives releasing their platform, the Gerald Butts Liberals and their loyal media attacks as expected. Scheer Cuts! Doug Ford Cuts! Harper Cuts! Scheer! Ford! Harper! Jason Kenney! Millions will die in the streets of Toronto! Groper’s CBC today was condemning Scheer for waiting until today to release it, yet they say nothing about the NDP leader releasing it the same day. And Groper still hasn’t costed his major global warming platform. Or as Climate Barbie has stated, we will wait until after the election to announce it.

    • Phil says:

Justin Castro CANNOT condemn an NDP partner that he will desperately need to hold power in the new minority scenario.

This “oversight” is every bit as calculated as speaking from one side of his mouth for his fellow racist Quebecois audience and quite another for his cuckold audience in Ontario.

Remember when the emperor mused about admiring communist regimes like his Chinese friends? that could simply get things done quicker?

He’s actually every bit as advertised – arrogant and shallow and in it for JT.

  8. Ontario John says:

Groper McBlackface was ranting last night that the Conservative platform was released in SECRET! Its all a big SECRET, and nobody can see it. Then the standard rants of Harper! Doug Ford! Jason Kenney! How dare Scheer try to balance the budget! Soldiers marching in the streets! Join Team Trudeau and help wage war against the provinces for the next four years.

  9. Max says:

Exactly! Sock-Boy’s way of “doing things differently”. Maybe it’s “Foggy Ways” now. Because its 2019.

  10. Phil says:

So you can’t seem to swing a dead cat around the CBC website without running into a story about brownface needing a security detail and a bullet proof vest.

I’m going to come off as really cynical here, please consider the target’s past actions. DOES ANYONE else think this was just another role being played?

For one thing, wouldn’t most leader events have a security detail at this point in the writ period?

I do not wish to live in a society where leaders are assassinated. I am also not naive to the possibility as well. Hell, a senior in-the-back-pocket-of-the-emporer civil servant ranted about the possibility in the SNC Lavalin hearings.

What I just cant think past is this a case of reality or a case of orchestration?

The voice clips of Turdo that were on the CBC this morning yelling into a microphone sounded every bit as desparate as Paul Martin practically fornicating on the stage with Buzz Hargrove a decade ago.

Did Brownface create a stir? Is the story a desperate Schtick to remind us all of what living in a conservative world would be like?

Has he ever donned a mask before? Why couldn’t the bullet proof vest be a prop? It is not beneath this man because well, not much is beneath this man. I know because I was cleaning scum from my pond this morning and just beneath that I am pretty sure I saw that lying racist bastard.

  11. Ronald O'Dowd says:

Sorry Montréalaise but you’re wrong. Bloc reinvigoration has absolutely nothing to do with present Liberal support in Quebec, or Trudeau’s positioning. Their numbers have everything to do with the fact that Singh is neither a francophone Québécois, nor very sad to say it, white. It’s all about subtle, unexpressed racism at work, in some quarters, not Bill 21.

  12. Max says:

I wouldn’t put it past Justin. This guy had his BFF write his father’s eulogy for Christ’s sake! And what better way than to distract from that silly CBC lawsuit that they immediate had ‘buyer’s remorse”. I wouldn’t put anything past these jackals.

  13. Fred from BC says:

“JT is panicking – if he loses Quebec, he loses the election.”

Yup. And the record number of people using the advance polls must be making him tremble, too. That usually only means one thing: people are pissed at the government.

    • Ronald O'Dowd says:

      Fred,

Absolutely. If it was a Liberal surge, they would have to be more outfront as incumbent government than they already are. So, they’re toast.
