Gay kids, trans kids, are made in God’s likeness

…how could they not be?

Read Rosie, who is at her passionate best, here.

Oh, and she quotes what the Pope and the relevant Ontario minister have to say.

Heed them, not the haters.

Pope Francis: “If a person is gay and seeks God and has good will, who am I to judge?I am glad that we are talking about homosexual people because before all else comes the individual in his wholeness and dignity. People should not be defined only by their sexual tendencies: let us not forget that God loves all his creatures and we are destined to receive his infinite love.”

Minister Lecce: “My message to the board is quite clear. My expectation is that every child, irrespective of differences, can see themselves reflected in school and, more importantly, that (the board) will adhere to the Ontario Human Rights Code.”

Just one more reason – as if we needed one more reason – why the idea of a publicly-funded, separate school system organized around the promotion of a single religion is no longer tenable.

    • Derek Pearce says:

I think support for the abolition of the entire separate Catholic school system in Ontario is low-key growing, and the Ontario govt could do it to save a shitload of money with a noticeable but not a crazy amount of blowback.

      • Walter says:

Depending on how these negotiations with the teachers go, I could see the government privatizing the Catholic system. Parents would receive a voucher for education, which could be applied at any religious or private school, with parents topping up the amount where that school charges more than the equivalent cost of the public school.

      • Ian says:

It would be an extremely difficult step, given the fact that the right to Catholic boards is included in the 1982 Constitution Act.

        • Ian,

We did it in Quebec when we went to linguistic boards. All that’s required is a government bill in the ONL and a federal resolution in Parliament. Ottawa did not interfere when we did it. Why would they now? They will simply rubber-stamp whatever Ford decides.

        • Derek Pearce says:

Notwithstanding clause. Now that’s use I could actually get behind.

  2. Mike Jeffries says:

The good Pope quotes the good Book which says they are made in His likeness and image. And so indeed they should seek God to see for themselves what He is *really* like full of Mercy as I have found out.
Many gays have been so turned off by the church that if I would dare to venture into a gay bar to tell them they should seek God I would be tossed out onto the street with such ferocity and hatred! That breaks my heart…

It seems all may not be solidaity and harmony in the LGBTQ+ community. This isn’t the first article along these lines I’ve seen. The spectre of enlightened cis people lining up behind the trans cause while their “co-letters” distance themselves is bewildering.

Thanks Peter, that was a pretty incredible read. Who knew?

I mean, I figured they were doomed when they decided to go head-to-head with the feminists, but this is even worse for them. The Law of Unintended Consequences rears its ugly head yet again…
