But apparently the anti-vaxxers remain in caucus. Gotcha.

First, Chen indefinitely suspended from National Council. Now, Batters kicked out of caucus. Neither of them is even close to being a serious threat to O’Toole. Once again, that didn’t take long — and it’s foolish to the extreme: it makes a tempest in a teapot rise to a higher level, it creates new enemies for the leader and most of them will be closeted and finally, it sharpens all varieties of axes to grind about the leader. Erin, you’ve once again turned nothing into something. Not good. How can the OLO be this amateurish, not to mention stupid???

  2. Sean says:

Petitions mean SFA. Stand in that caucus room and demand a new leader by the end of the meeting or STFU. That is how parliament is supposed to work. If she didn’t know that… she shouldn’t have run in the first place.

    • Phil in London says:

Um……run for what? She’s an appointment – never ever ran for office, although I didn’t go back to check her high school student council election bonafides

Who are the CPC MPs who are not vaccinated?

    • Douglas,

You mean, Erin hasn’t told you? LOL. Anyway, that’s the subtext. The real story is how those MPs don’t have the guts to disclose their status publicly. That speaks volumes and cuts no ice with me whatsoever. Of course, those with a legitimate medical exemption — and there won’t be many of those — get a pass from moi but not the rest of ’em.

  4. Phil,

Depends. IF they purge themselves of the racist, misogynist and radical far-right infiltrators, Canadians might, and I mean might, give them a look over.

    • Robert White says:

I have come to the conclusion that the Cons can’t purge the right-wing nutters from their possible midst as a big tent party.

Canadians will never look closely at the right-wing Cons because the Cons enjoy being party central for all the right-wing nutters. In other words, they have no mandat that Canadians will ever gravitate towards aside from fiscal responsibility, but not even the Cons can actually be fiscally responsible when in power.

Trudeau the elder made sure that Trudeau the younger would have deficits beyond fiscal responsibility of a conservative mindset steeped in Keynesian rhetoric via the central banks.

      • Robert,

Seems to me we got to balance for at least a couple of years under Chrétien & Martin.

        • Robert White says:

I didn’t mind Chretien or Martin in terms of Finance. Times changed qualitatively after Martin’s tenure. Harper bet long on pipelines and Athabasca Oil Sands development with short term money. Once the pipelines became bottlenecked the day traders of Wall Street turned us into slaves for next to nothing per barrel on that deal.

Max Keiser said ‘One cannot taper a Ponzi.’ I would hazard a guess that we can’t taper central bank asset purchases either.

Larry Summers has called Q2 2022 for the taper. We will see what manifests just as the Wall Street Monetary Heroin Junkies start to fret & stress about their fix from Dr. Feelgood ahead of that. If Dr. Feelgood does not play ball with the junkies the junkies will throw a conniption fit. The conniption fit is the Taper Tantrum.

          Robert,

My predictions about The Fed can hardly be called my finest moments in monetary policy guidance: my bet was that inflation, which everyone knows has long been in double digits in the United States would require skipping an official taper and go straightaway to raising interest rates due to the heightened velocity of inflation. So far, I’m dead wrong.

All this chatter about Brainard taking over from Powell will change nothing. It seems that The Fed has absolutely no intention to taper, period. So…that means ever increasing inflation and a continual reduction of purchasing power of the dollar. Put another way, continuing on the road to unintentional economic hell for the poor and struggling middle-class. Meanwhile, the rich get ever richer thanks to Powell, while The Fed does all that it possibly can to create an environment where THEIR stock portfolios continually shoot for the moon. Those people belong in jail, to say the very least.

  5. Hum. The headline says it was “necessary” for caucus unity to purge Batters. N-E-C-E-S-S-A-R-Y.

That means trouble with a capital T at the top. Translation: O’Toole’s hold on the leadership ain’t exactly Loctite. Interesting.

So, they went right ahead anyway and gave her the heave-ho, having themselves not properly secured Erin’s leadership??? Yeah, by all means, go with that. Jesus Christ…

This site has become the Ronald O’Dowd and Robert White echo chamber across every post. Sad to see on what was once a vibrant site with many commenters.

    • Warren says:

Then get off your ass and do something about it.

    • Ronald O'Dowd says:

Well, let me tell you this: when Warren becomes sick of my shit and wants me to reduce my volume, don’t worry, he won’t be shy to set me straight.

Meanwhile, I still have a government to defeat in Ottawa. I haven’t done a satisfactory job up to now so what can I say, I have to keep at it. Would be nice if Erin helped me out instead of hindering me…

And to quote Warren: if you don’t like what’s posted in the [comments], then don’t read it.

      • Robert White says:

Ronald, someguywholurkshere is merely attempting to stir-the-shitstorm via group dynamics. He likens us to an ‘echo chamber’, but we have never heard him comment before now. He has yet to establish himself here and resents the fact that we get along with Warren.

Bottom line is that he is just egging us on for a fight because he’s bored, lonely, and dimwitted.

Warren knows we will make short work of him.
