Twitterers, take a Valium

  1. Warren,

I wonder how the Twitter universe is reacting to the attack on Paul Pelosi. Ditto regarding the Republican surge in the polls. Will one cancel out the other as a trending issue both on Twitter and at the polls?

The Dems had managed to control the hemorrhaging, but in the last few weeks, Republicans have taken on serious momentum.

Thank God Mr. Pelosi was killed or left with permanent injuries. How does the average American feel about this attack and to what extent will it affect the collective consciousness?

  2. It was bad enough when both Democrat and Republican House members were attacked and seriously injured, some left with permanent injuries. In the UK, two MPs were murdered. Where does it all end?

I am quite looking forward to what lies ahead for Twitter. To me there seem like two possible outcomes:

    1. Twitter is forced to continue moderating content, as you mention, and Elon Musk looks like the blowhard douchebag that he truly is.

    2. Twitter stops moderating content, gets sued and/or becomes a fringe wasteland, and eventually shuts down. No more Twittter. And the world begins to rejoice.

    Win win, in my view.

    • Steve,

Musk has shown his true colours on Pelosi. And that deafening sound you hear in the boomerang heading back straight in the direction of his sorry and pathetic ass. I could say more but most of you out there already know what I’d write.

The worst part is that some people seem to look past Musk’s obvious absence of morals/ethics, and treat him as a hero because he is apparently the champion of “free speech”.

The fact he is trying to get out of the legally-binding severance packages for Twitter’s top execs is being dismissed by Musks’ sycophants because those rich people don’t deserve it anyway apparently – despite it being set out in a contract. What is lost is that fact Musk also is attempting to fire thousands of everyday Twitter employees before they reach certain employment milestones that entitle them to bonuses and other benefits. Guess they don’t deserve those things either?

It’s no coincidence that Musk’s reason for buying Twitter is partially due to the perceived restriction of Donald Trump’s speech. Musk and Trump have a lot of things in common, including their willingness to discard basic ethical principles and lie regularly just for kicks.

          All good points.

Still there may be some poetic justice to come, because Musk had to take on a shitload of debt to buy Twitter, and that kind of debt is not something you can lie your way out of. And it means if he sabotages Twitter financially, eg, by turning it into some freakish far-right cesspool, he will pay dearly for that financially.

  4. Warren,
