Your morning-after #CPC talking points

Poilievre can make excuses all he wants but the NSP can’t. Looks like their support collapsed. Singh should be very worried.

  2. The Doctor says:

Interesting to see PPC in Christian Heritage Party territory. They appear to need a new schtick badly now that Covid is so 5 minutes ago.

  3. Warren,

Remember that army of young and new voters who were supposed to vote, many for the first time in years, and make things happen for the CPC? Too bad that. They turned out to be only as reliable as your average Russian soldier…surprise, surprise.

    • PJH says:

We missed the boat not electing Peter MacKay….who could have appealed to a younger demographic, while keeping old Tories in the fold…..Erin O’Toole did not, nor will PP (Brylcreem not exactly being a draw)….
All because old guard Refooormers cant bear the thought of a former PC’er leading the party.
      Their, and the country’s loss.

      • PJH,

Well, will they actually wake up and insure that all policy going forward is centre-right only? I’ll believe that one when I see it.

Of course, Byrne is by far a much more credible political strategist than either of us, or both of us put together. What do we know? Right…

  4. Gilbert says:

It’s bad news for the NDP. A lot of the NDP vote probably went to the Liberals.

    • Gilbert,

Jagmeet is an idiot. His supporters are so thrilled with him kissing Trudeau’s feet and licking the Liberal ass that they collectively decided to just save time and vote Liberal. I mean, it’s only happened to the NDP six times already. Definitely Einstein’s definition of political insanity but hey it’s DIFFERENT this time. Right…

      • The Doctor says:

Exactly. Like when are the NDP going to finally figure out that the Liberal strategy under JT & Company is to eat the NDP’s lunch? The rest of us have figured this out, it’s not rocket science.

  5. westcoastjim says:

Pierre had his ass kicked in a riding he has to win to form government. And it gets worse. Sure he picked up much of the looney PPC vote but he obviously lost a significant part of the traditional Conservative vote to the Libs. Could it be because Pierre basked in the attention of criminal protesters. Could it be because Pierre marched in solidarity with white supremecists? Could it be because he promoted cryptocurrency – something developed to assist criminals to launder money. Could it be because he gets his economical policies from watching YouTube videos in bed with his wife?

Pierre is unquestionably the worst leader of a major party in Canadian history. And this by-election shows that Canadians know it.

    • WCJ,

One by-election loss does not make the worst party leader in Canada. But it’s definitely Pierre ClueInTimeTM for Poilièvre and his OLO. This loss is a warning and a shot across the CPC bow. Hope he and his team are actually sentient enough to get it. Otherwise…

  6. Isn’t it positively reassuring to find out from this Prime Minister that Canada isn’t broken…just B-R-O-K-E, thanks to this government.

  7. PJH says:

Old Refoooormers will never “get it”…..I look forward to congratulating my current sitting Con MP(and poster boy for PP) on another four years in the Opposition benches…..actually will enjoy a bit o’ schadenfreude in doing so…..

    • PJH,

In politics, anything and I mean anything is possible. To wit: my firmest political conviction in life that Harper could never AND would never win. That’s why I linked up with Jamieson with all the enthusiasm I could muster. But Harper made a monkey out of me in the end. 2006-2015 says it all.

So like you, I’m from Missouri but I’ve given up on definite pre-conclusions. Maybe Poilièvre wins. Maybe he loses. Either way, like Harper, his success or failure will be a direct result of his political decisions and outlook.
