The once and future leader
Nice column. What it doesn’t address is that, in politics as in life, all of us have a past. As Mr. Rae’s predecessor discovered – as he will discover – no one knows more about his past than the youngsters in the Conservative Research Group. They have already documented, catalogued and digitized every mistake and misstep Bob Rae ever made, from the time he was in diapers.
Everyone has a past, everyone makes mistakes. But Rae’s are on an order of magnitude that preordain the result.
It won’t be pretty.

Conservatives’ anti-Rae button hits bottom
The Conservatives seem to have developed a small cottage industry in the distribution of anti-Rae material at this convention.
The buttons just keep on surfacing: “Go for Bob. Go for Broke!” says one. “Call me Bob. Let’s not talk about my past,” says another.
In today’s Sun: Keystone Kops
Sometimes, we worry about our fellow Canadians.
Like now, for example. Just a few days ago, the Americans decided to make no decision about the so-called Keystone Pipeline. Their non-decision has effectively scuttled the pipeline for the time being and perhaps for a long time.
Some Canadians reacted to the Keystone un-decision like, well, Keystone Kops. As with the Vaudevillian troupe that bore that name, some folks ran around in circles, colliding into each other, colliding into walls, colliding into microphones.
One of them was newly minted federal Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver. He was shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
Ontario PC leader Hudak wants to use force with Occupiers
He wants them moved out with “force,” quote unquote. That didn’t work out so well last time his cabal tried it.
From a scrum a few minutes ago:
Sun Media reporter: But do you support forcing them out?
Hudak: Absolutely. If they won’t go on their own, I think they need to move to police action.
Two charts to make one’s blood run cold
On the weekend, a fellow Obama fan asked me why I thought our guy may be hooped. I wish I had had this chart to share. It says it better than I did.
That’s not all, of course. If an economic horror of this scale starts to seep into Canada, Harper could be a goner, too. We shall see.
Reminder from a Facebook whale
I’m about 30 folks away from having 5,000 friends. Once I reach that point, I will (a) burst into flame and descend into the Ninth Circle of Hell or (b) be prevented from taking any more friends.
