On the CITY bullpen thing, Andrew Coyne asked me if Rob Ford’s landslide portends bad times are ahead for Libs. Not a chance, said I. Federal and provincial Liberals won (or are leading) in Ottawa, Vaughan, Sarnia and so on. We’ll do just fine, thanks very much.

Besides, if the new conservative mayor in Toronto means bad tidings for Liberals, does the new liberal mayor in Calgary mean that Stephen Harper is going to lose his seat?

Well, yes, they are.  Yet another reason to vote for Mary-Margaret McMahon!

The Municipal Election Act’s section 48(1), (2) and (3) say that you can’t, “directly or indirectly,” try and influence a voter at a polling place – that is, putting up one of your signs in the “immediate vicinity of a voting place.”

Sandra Bussin, and/or her team, dld that anyway. Add “lawbreaker” to their rap sheet!

No less than Sam Wakim and Pat MacAdam have written to me to tell me that Dief, not Romeo LeBlanc, was the source of the bear-and-rabbit-tracks parable in my column, below. I accept that is so, but it was Romeo who told me that one, and not Diefenbaker.

So I don’t have a cold or anything. But there I was at Emerg at East General late last night – and an urban hospital Emergency Department on a Friday night with a full moon is a real treat, let me tell you – with my fat head feeling like it was about to split open.

Didn’t get to see a doc until this morning, however. As suspected, it’s the Mother of All Ear Infections©. The doc and I got to talking about how I might have gotten it. Mentioned that I’ve done a lot of TV interview things, lately, wherein you have to jam a thingie in your ear to hear the host.

“They ever clean that off?” asked she.

“I’ve never seen them clean it, now that you mention it,” said me.

“Okay,” said the doc. “Next time you do an interview, make sure it’s clean.”

Ewg.

Personally, I think I somehow got a Conservative talking head’s DNA, and my body rebelled. Who’s wouldn’t?

Hear that, Powers? Bring alcohol swabs next time, would you?

Bob Richardson and I did John Tory’s show yesterday afternoon, as a kind of wrap-up to the gruelling municipal election.

We genially disagreed on who will end being a winner and who will end up losing – Bob understandably felt one way about who will win the Mayor’s chair, John and I felt differently – but on one candidate we all agreed: Mary-Margaret McMahon is the only person who can (and should) defeat the detestable Sandra Bussin.

As I have suggested over the months/years – here and here and here – Bussin is easily one of the worst elected representatives I have ever encountered.  And that’s saying something.

Don’t split the oppositon and let the awful Sandra Bussin get in again: vote for Mary-Margaret.  She is a driven and decent person, and I cannot endorse her candidacy enough.  Bob and John feel likewise.

Go, MMM!

I post this only to note that various commentators were obviously right when they said that Frank Graves clearly is a Liberal agent provocateur, and his numbers are not ever to be trusted by Conservatives and conservatives.

I suggest who the winner will be, BTW, in my Sun column on Sunday.  Who d’ya think I pick?

(And, also BTW, his support among New Canadians is astonishing – or is it? Worth reading, too.)
