John Oakley is a chickenshit: an Internet mystery in ten easy points

Here’s the recap:

1.  Yesterday morning, a producer at the John Oakley Show called me around at 8 and asked me to go on to discuss Rob Ford’s booze problems.  I said sure.

2.  At 8:30, I went on.  I tried to be fair; I said people would forgive him if he came clean.  Mid-way through, they brought Doug Ford on.  They didn’t tell me they were doing that, but no big deal. They’ve been giving the Fords an uncritical platform for years, and that’s not going to change anytime soon.

3.  Doug Ford immediately started going after me, so I went right back after him.  Ford and Oakley falsely said that I was party to the legal action against Rob Ford.  I’m not.  But before I could say so, the station cut the line.

4.  When I went on their web site, I saw a Doug Ford clip there, but not mine.  I then tweeted at them, asking when they would put it up on the Internet.

5.  They didn’t respond.  Silence.

6.  I gave Oakley until this morning.  When it still wasn’t up, I wrote an open letter to his show.  Other media started to retweet what I wrote.

7.  Someone at the Oakley Show hurriedly tweeted the link to the exchange between Doug Ford and I.  It was up for a few short minutes.

8.  And, as of now, it isn’t.  It’s vanished. The tweet containing the Kinsella vs. Ford link is gone.  So is the clip. Check for yourself.

9.  I couldn’t believe my eyes.  Fortunately, I saved a screen cap of the Oakley Show’s tweet, and the link.  It’s below.

10.  Now that Lent is over, I can swear.  The John Oakley Show look like a bunch of chickenshits, here.  They look like cowards.  Someone pushed back against their loathsome pals, the Fords, and they didn’t like it.  Management, or the Fords, or someone, told them to take it down. So they did. They’ve disappeared evidence of it.

Like I say, there can be only one conclusion.

Oakley’s a chickenshit.

  1. I just changed the 640 AM channel button on my Car radio. Now that they are a Ford Nation subsidiary, I am not interested in supporting their advertising revenues. I think I shall simply forget how to find 640 onthe AM dial

    • Have you driven a Ford lately? says:

I’m sure they’ll be so choked to lose such an eloquent and rational person as yourself.

I guess this is the result of the politics of division and dogma, (instead of the politics of vision and ambition): the idols and ideology are defended to the bitter end no matter the reality.

    John Oakley. Ford Fluffer.

  4. Patrick says:

Did you capture the audio before they took it down? You should just repost here if so…

hey, Wente is talking bout talk radio and boozy mayors:

chattering classes are agig and agog

  6. Joan says:

Mr. Kinsella, I believe you have your tongue in your cheek for surely you did not intend to be fair in your unfounded, un-evidenced assumption that the mayor has a drinking problem. At best you patronized the mayor. And your references to 12-step recovery glaringly misses the point completely. 12-step programs work when the afflicted admit powerlessness not when their political opponents accuse them publicly. Why not attend some AlAnon meetings if you truly want to help?

  7. deb s says:

I tweeted ( I think, lol) that I wanted to hear the interchange between doug and warren…perhaps with enough pressure they will put it back up!

  8. Iris Mclean says:

In all seriousness, I can’t fathom why you would want to appear on, or contribute to, the Oakley show.
What the hell did you expect?

    • Warren says:

I’m not afraid of a fight. Are you?

      • Iris Mclean says:

The Ford brothers are self-destructing just fine on their own.
Although it’s somewhat amusing to watch from a distance, it’s pretty sad.
Rob Ford is toast, and it’s only a matter of time before he is no longer mayor.
I hope he gets the help he needs.

  9. Pipes says:

Well…………I like to support the local Legion and its bar. I was sitting with 20 people. I asked them, given the most recent alleged behaviours of the Mayor, that if there was an election today, would you still vote for Ford, even if Olivia was running.

The answer-70% of those at the table said they would definately vote for Ford.

I find this whole mess absolutley weird or what……………

As far as Oakly goes and his station they can go and !@#$ themselves. They invite you in and then censor you. wtf.

  10. Rex M says:

AM 640 may as well air paid programming where everything is ALL a controlled environment and everyone ONLY says nice things about the product(s).
They’ll make more money doing that than airing this “Rob Ford is best” infomercial disguised as the John Oakley morning show.
What a Joke! When I want Toronto talk radio in the morning, my radio dial is set to CFRB 1010.

  11. Sully says:

I heard this segment live. The big mistake was letting that horse’s arse Doug Ford through. It just devolved into a shouting match that accomplished nothing. Does that buffoon do nothing but sit around listening to talk radio all day, waiting to shoot his mouth off?
