Michael Batas was the Calgary Flames number one fan – I’m not joking, either – but, to us Calgary punks, he was also the creator of the greatest pizza in the known universe.  Whenever I was home, and for a quarter-century, I would make my way back there for his “special” and a pint (or two) of Trad (this video, from my last trip to Calgary, was shot in Michael’s restaurant).

Michael was also a wonderful man, with a great family, and we will all miss him very much. Θεός σας ευλογεί.

Tony Clement – and the Grits and Dippers who beat him to the punch – deserves credit for putting the brakes on the CRTC’s inane decision to kill off competition for the fat cat cell phone companies.

As the story makes clear (click the graphic, above), the Liberals can credibly pick up quite a few seats in the writ – and with no more than an effective (but not spectacular) campaign effort.  That could lift them to 100 seats, mainly at the Cons’ expense.  The Reformatory brain trust know this.  And that’s why, again, I don’t see a campaign happening anytime soon.
