Take a look at these photographs from around the world.

They are extraordinary. Why? Because those are real people. I saw 50,000 of them in Toronto today, when I marched with them. My wife and daughter saw 500,000 of them, too, at the main march in Washington. 

Over and over, today, I heard regular, everyday folks – not professional protestors and political types – say: “I have never been in a protest before.” And then they’d say how happy they were that they came. 

Those women (and men) made me feel better, politically, than I have at any time since November 8. They reminded me that the majority aren’t going to put up with this racist, sexist, lying, groping fascistic sonofabitch. Not a chance. 

Today, more than ever, I am convinced the Unpresident is not going to finish his whole term. And that today’s marches are just the start of something amazing.

I have had this poster beside my desk every day for eight years. 

I supported him right from the start, long before 2008. I couldn’t vote for him, but after I saw him speak at the DNC convention in 2004, that was it. I was with him. 

He has been a president who conducted himself with dignity and integrity and grace. No scandal, no laws broken. No loss of that extraordinary sense of hope that he embodied. 

Last night, at the Canada in a Trump World event I moderated, I ended things by quoting him to the hundreds in attendance: 

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

He believed that. It will be so hard to keep believing that in the dark time ahead, but we have to try. 

I am so, so sad today. I won’t be posting anything else but this.

By the by, Blood and Honour is a decades-old neo-Nazi group in Britain. Combat 18 is a skinhead group whose members have committed multiple murders. The “18” refers to the first and eighth letters, A and H – Adolf Hitler.

Their posters have been put up all over Calgary.
